Communication as an asset in organising your resources

Human capital has always been considered one of the strategic assets for any company. But to ensure it works correctly, it also must be expressed as communicative capital. It is a recent idea, developed starting from the noughties, that of assigning values of competitive advantage to the ability of transferring knowledge in an organisation. That’s because communication is an asset in organising the resources.

1. The advantages of digitalisation of processes

With respect to a business, the communicative capital is not limited to the classic functions at the top of marketing sales planning and of markets monitoring or managing the relationship with the stakeholders, but it also refers to the internal processes that are often slowed down by the lack of a technological infrastructure that would support them.

The Digital Business Transformation (DBT) centre of Lausanne published, in collaboration with Cisco, the “Workforce Transformation in the Digital Vortex” report. According to this study, carried out on a sample of over a thousand people between professionals and managers, digitalising would offer three main advantages:

  • Improve decision-making;
  • Increase innovation;
  • Growth of productivity.

2. Low digitalisation and communication gap

The DBT’s report highlights another issue.

The problem of low digitalisation is often related to a communication gap internal to the company. Communication is indeed an asset which makes the organisation of resources extremely efficient.

By “resources” we refer to that asset of people, skills and trust not fully employed due to a repeated lack of communication; an inadequate sharing of data and information makes cumbersome or worse it prevents the  flow of information in the context of the same business departments and from one department to another.

In other words, it makes you waste time and energy.

Regarding to that, we recommend you to read this article if you want to finally learn how to manage your time and that of your employees in your company.

3. How to implement communicative capital

There are IT platforms able to aggregate messages and contents, in order to dissolve the communicative “traffic” within the company.

Organising the resources could obtain incremental results in terms of productivity and competitiveness, if it were regulated by a simplified communication system, also thanks to the aid of:

  • Software which integrates Context Sharing such as SweetHive;
  • Instant Messaging;
  • Calendars.

So as to transform the asset of people, skills and knowledge into communicative capital for the business.
