Wellbeing of the employees: the index and role of motivation

We are living a new era in which it looks as if the attention is turned to the results and the wellbeing of the employees. But how much does it depend on the company for which one works and how much on the nature of the employees themselves? In this article we will tell you our point of view.

A few weeks ago, a very interesting article was published and it talked about the “wellbeing of the employees”. In particular, the article explained how Deloitte decided to launch an index to measure, precisely, the wellbeing at work.

Analysing some phenomena that involve mainly the new generations” explains Marco Vulpiani, Life Sciences Sector Leader in Deloitte, “we thought it was necessary to broaden the analysis of the determiners of work wellbeing outside the traditional boundaries, so to include intangible factors that were only partly considered until now, such as the fruition of culture, the contact with nature, sense of safety and others”.

This article stirred up a bit of curiosity in me: we are literally living in a completely different era than the one lived by our grandparents, in which it was the product, the result, what the boss of the company was interested in. Now it seems clear that the attention is also turned to the personal sphere of the employee.

Wellbeing and smart working

In a time when we encourage smart working, from here on the new six months or even years, caring about the wellbeing of the employees is the good and right thing. But at the same time, there are things that cannot be overlooked.

Unfortunately, for many of us, we only have the memories of the workplace decorated with fragrant green plants that could give us a sense of peace, regardless of the frenzy of the tasks that needed to be completed. And also, by force majeure it’s the participation itself to internal courses for personal growth or team building that becomes limited, due to virus’ containment measures to which we have to adhere. So, there are no intangible factors such as the fruition of culture, contact with nature, sense of safety and others, that can hold when facing such relevant external events. So here we have, featured in the list of unmissable things to guarantee a state of wellbeing of an employee, whatever may happen, motivation, as the decisive factor.

In this article, we explain how motivation also is listed among the 3 factors that allow the connection between communication, sharing and business welfare.

The role of motivation

It is good to remember how the employees is, first of all, a person with emotions, limits, fears and personal goals. It happens at times, that these may also become the company’s ones, to make a perfect match. Some other times, on the other hand, the goals are so different that the relationship between wellbeing and productivity becomes really weak. Here you can find an interesting article on how to involve the team with the company’s goals.

This is the reason why a company holds a big responsibility: without forgetting the fundamental role of the nature of the employees, a winning company knows that they can be desirable on the market only when their own employees are motivated just as much by their physical, and now necessarily, virtual environment of work.

BusinessRM: the phy-gital place

BusinessRM, the workplace called “phy-gical place”, rethinks the physical structure and the logic of the organisation you work for in a digital environment, so that each collaborator can participate towards the common goal. Furthermore, thanks to its structure by digital hives, it can turn remote work itself into a life experience: you feel at home, at the centre of the organisation, in a digital place where motivation has the space to grow, in view of a bigger awareness of one’s own work and person. And consequently, one’s own wellbeing.
